What does BTTS (GG) mean?

BTTS stands for "both teams to score": a bet on whether each side finds the net at least once. Yes wins on any scoreline where both teams score — 1-1, 2-1, 3-2 — regardless of who wins the match. No wins whenever at least one team fails to score: 1-0, 3-0 and 0-0 all land on the No side. In much of Africa and Europe the same market is written GG (goal-goal) for Yes and NG (no goal) for No.

Which results win?

BTTS Yes: 1-1, 2-1, 1-2, 2-2, 3-1 — any score with both teams on the sheet. BTTS No: 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 0-3 — any clean sheet either way. The match result itself is irrelevant, which is what makes BTTS attractive when you expect goals at both ends but cannot call a winner.

Settlement and odds

The market settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Both sides usually trade between 1.60 and 2.10, tightening toward the extremes for very attacking or very defensive pairings. As with any two-way market, the implied probability is roughly 1 divided by the odds less the bookmaker margin.

BTTS combinations

Bookmakers combine BTTS with other outcomes: "BTTS and win" (your team wins and both score) and "BTTS and over 2.5" are the common ones. The combined odds are much bigger because two conditions must land — treat them as parlays, not as a separate skill.

Look for pairings where both attacks are functional and both defenses leak — mid-table open teams rather than one-sided fixtures, where the favourite's clean-sheet chance quietly kills the Yes. And ignore anyone selling "sure GG" slips: no combination of teams guarantees a goal at both ends.

How often does BTTS land?
Roughly half of matches in the big European leagues end with both teams scoring — typically 48-53% by season. As with goals lines, the spread across individual fixtures is huge, which is what the per-match probabilities on our BTTS page are for.

Does extra time count for BTTS?
No — the market settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A goal in extra time of a cup tie does not turn a No into a Yes.

What is "BTTS and win"?
A combo bet: your team wins the match AND both teams score — e.g. backing a 2-1 or 3-1 style result. Odds are much bigger than plain BTTS because two conditions must land together.
